About the Uganda Youth IGF

"Empowering Youth for a Digital Tomorrow"

The Uganda Youth Internet Governance Forum (UYIGF) is a dedicated platform that seeks to empower young people to discuss and understand the current digital ecosystem and how they can leverage it to better themselves.

Hosted by the Internet Society Uganda Chapter the. UYIGF seeks to meaningfully engage youth in Internet governance processes and digital policy dialogues at both national and regional levels.  Aligned with the principles of the Global IGF, Africa Youth IGF, and East Africa Youth IGF, this national forum ensures that young voices contribute meaningfully to shaping Uganda’s digital landscape.

The UYIGF has evolved into a critical space for amplifying youth voices on key issues such as digital inclusion, cybersecurity, online safety, freedom of expression, digital rights, and digital literacy. The forum empowers young people to not only participate in shaping Internet policy but also take leadership in implementing digital solutions within their communities.

UYIGF’s impact is evident in its growing network of youth leaders, many of whom have gone on to represent Uganda in regional and global Internet governance spaces such as the Africa IGF, East Africa IGF, and the Global IGF. It has also contributed to increased awareness of Internet governance issues among university students, tech innovators, and youth-led organizations across Uganda.

As digital transformation accelerates, UYIGF continues to serve as a catalyst for youth-driven innovation, digital rights advocacy, and inclusive policymaking ensuring that the future of the Internet is shaped by those who will inherit it
