
Mr. Adonia Katungisa Adonia is a professional Librarian, administrator, Library and Information Science (LIS)trainer/ Lecturer with a working experience of more than 20 years.
He is currently, the Director, National Library of Uganda (NLU. He also worked as a Part-Time Lecturer for LIS Program at Kyambogo University (1999 –to- 2021. He holds a Master’s degree of Science in Information Science (MUK), 2005; a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science (MUK) 2001 and a Bachelor’s degree of Library and Information Science (MUK) 1997.
Adonia attended a one- year African Leadership Academy (AfLAc), a leadership training Programme for African Middle Library Managers-organized and run by African Library and Information Association (AFLIA). He previously worked as the Deputy Director at the National Library of Uganda for a period of 8 years (2010 – 2018)- He was deputizing the Director and was in charge of Human Resource; an Assistant Librarian at Kyambogo University Library Service for 10 Years (2000 – 2010).
He also worked as a School Librarian (1997-1999) at St. Henry’s College Kitovu Masaka.Mr. Katungisa was also a member of the Memory of the World (MoW) committee of the Uganda National Commission for UNESCO (2012). He is a member on the Task Force to Develop a Concept Paper and Proposal for the Uganda Aids Museum and Learning Centre. He also served on several other information and knowledge programmes including being a member of the Uganda in- country Committee of the Documentation and Research Project on Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR), between 2012- 2015; a member of the Steering Committee of the Civic Education Resource Centre Project that was implemented by Uganda Projects implementation & Management Consultancy (UPIMAC)(2012 – 2016).
He also served as a member on the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) Standing Committee on ICT and Library Resources (2008-2010); and a committee member for the Kyambogo University Procurement committee for Information Materials (2008-2010)
